With the kids heading back to school soon, why not learn something new this fall at DIYCave? We have something for everyone. Here’s a look of what’s coming up!
Beginning Car Care – September 10 at 12 pm
Get to know your car a little more with instructor Claire Hafer. Gain trust and competence to: use your car’s manual, jumpstart a battery safely, change a tire and check tire air pressure, tread, size, and type, check and fill fluids (oil, brake, antifreeze, battery, washer), check and change fuses. Bring your car manual, a notepad and be prepared to get dirty!
Leather Bracelets with Suede Flowers – September 14 & 28 at 5:30 pm
Similar to the past leather bracelets classes .. learn the basics of leather punching, riveting and snap-setting as we craft bracelets from recycled materials including used belts and horse tack. This class features detail to the bracelet using suede flowers. Students will have the opportunity to create two upcycled bracelets with materials included.
Glass Bead Making (three-week class) – October 6, 13 & 20 at 5:30 pm
This in-depth three-part course will give you the skills you need to make beautiful glass beads on your own. You’ll start with the basics of how the equipment and materials work, learn how to make simple shapes, and move on to combining colors, shaping and decorating your beads in creative ways. All materials included in the class.
Metal Mill Basics – September 20 at 5:30 pm
Learn to use the DIYcave’s Bridgeport Mill to shape many materials (not just metal!) into precisely crafted parts for your projects. Taught by a longtime machinist, this class will cover what the mill is used for, how it works, and the proper techniques you need to bring your creations to life.
Glass Mosaic Funky Mirrors and Signs – October 11 at 5:30 pm & October 12 at 10:30 am
Teri is back to help students create an another fun mosaic project. She’ll teach you how to cut glass, create a great design, and make beautiful and unique funky mirror or sign to decorate your space or to give as a gift. All supplies included (wood frame, mirror & supplies). You may bring embellishments, buttons, pottery, jewelry, etc. to make it your very own.
