Doc
Our member spotlight is on Tim Burnett aka Doc, who says he has “so many projects I can’t keep them straight.” When Tim isn’t teaching as a professor of kinesiology at OSU-Cascades, he’s a typical Bendite who enjoys the outdoors and a tasty IPA.
Why did you become a member of DIYcave?
I saw the DIYcave booth at a fair, and I thought, ” I want a shop of my own, but
I can’t afford it, but this place has all I need to make everything.”
What skills have you learned?
I’ve taken the lathe and welding class, but the know-how of all the members has helped me realize how much I can create.
What is the favorite project you’ve witnessed?
Basically, all the things I haven’t done yet. I see people making metal sculptures, chess set, and all sorts of objects that they use in their homes and give to friends. I hope that others can use my things to make their houses, homes.
I’ve always loved making things. If it’s furniture, bowls, knives, etc. I can make anything I want in the cave. And if I don’t know how there is always someone around to give me advice and lead me to a superior product.
Would you recommend DIYcave to a friend?
Recommend the DIYcave? I’ve been shouting it from the rooftops. All my coworkers, friends, and family, have heard about the amazing things I’ve been making, and the wonderful community at the cave.
I’m not an artist, but this allows me to express my skills that wouldn’t be available if the DIYcave didn’t exist.
