Teacher Resources

Want to be a teacher at DIYcave? Then this is the place to start. Our teacher program is based on independent people willing to step forward and share their knowledge and skills with others. We want to make that possible by offering the space, tools, materials and advertising to connect teachers with people who are excited to learn. DIYcave will help you set a budget, price point, material list and structure to fit your subject, and then execute the class. So let’s get started!

First, you need to apply for a teacher consideration (applying is not a guarantee of acceptance.) Fill out this form and submit it. We will review the application and contact you after we have considered your information. If you are approved, the next step will be to discuss classes!

Next, begin thinking about the content for a class that you would like to teach and how you might structure the class. Most classes will fall under a structure along the lines of:

  • Introduction
  • Overview
  • Teaching content
  • Review and wrap-up

If you have a basic idea of what you want to do in your class it will help when we contact you and begin discussing the proposed class length and content. Remember that you may always reach out to us if you have questions!

Volunteer Opportunities

If you are interested in helping to create an ever growing Makerspace and being part of an amazing Maker Community, our Stewardship Program might be the right fit for you! Work a shift at the Cave each week or help us in other ways and in return for your service we have things like shop access and free classes that you can earn. For more information on being a volunteer please email dave@diycave.com or stop by the Cave and talk to Dave or one of the Stewards on duty.
