About This Class:

Join us for a bright and cheerful project in our upcoming Stained Glass Poppy Flower Class! 🌺✨
Inspired by the bold, joyful look of poppies in bloom, this class is perfect for anyone who loves vibrant color, nature-inspired design, or simply wants to create something beautiful out of glass.
In this hands-on class, you’ll create a medium-sized stained glass poppy suncatcher—a great project for beginners or anyone curious about learning the stained glass process. You’ll start by choosing from our prepared poppy patterns and then learn each step of the copper foil stained glass technique, including cutting and shaping glass, grinding, foiling, and soldering.
Our experienced instructor will guide you through each stage of the process, offering demonstrations and tips along the way to help you build confidence with the tools and techniques.
By the end of class, you’ll leave with a beautiful handcrafted poppy suncatcher ready to hang in your window, along with a solid introduction to stained glass skills that can inspire many future projects.
By the end, you’ll leave with a gorgeous handcrafted butterfly ready to hang in your window — along with a solid foundation of stained glass skills to inspire future creations.
Day 1: You’ll learn about glass types and color choices, how to score and break glass for curved and detailed shapes, grind each piece to fit your pattern, and apply copper foil.
Homework: Most students don’t finish grinding and foiling during the first session. If needed, you can book time in our Glass Studio Thursday–Sunday between classes to finish your pieces.
Day 2: You’ll solder your butterfly, add optional decorative wire accents, apply patina (if desired), wax your finished piece, and your vibrant stained glass butterfly will be ready to display proudly.
