This special member event explores some of the ways you can create heart‑shaped gifts using the tools and studios around the makerspace. We’ll walk through project ideas and techniques and upcoming classes from across the cave, including wood lathe & woodworking, blacksmithing, fused & stained glass, and welding.

Whether you’re making something sweet for a partner, a friend, or yourself, you’ll leave with inspiration, project pathways, and the confidence to bring your Valentine vision to life.

Saturday, December 7th, 12-1:30 & 2–3:30PM
​During the Member Meet Up, you will design and make your own fused glass ornaments. Whether you want to craft a sparkling star, a frosty snowflake, or a colorful abstract design, you’ll have plenty of glass and inspiration to work with. We’ll provide all the materials and tools—just bring your creativity and holiday spirit!​
​
Finished ornaments will be kiln-fired and ready for pickup before the holidays, making them perfect for decorating, gifting to loved ones, or adding a handmade touch to your home.

Come mingle with fellow makers, enjoy the festive atmosphere, spark new friendships, and take part in one of our favorite holiday traditions at DIYcave.​
Sunday, November 23rd, 2–4PM​
Join us for a special behind-the-scenes tour of the DIYcave Jewelry Studio! We’ll showcase our specialty tools—including the jewelry shear, rolling mill, and polisher—and share examples of textured pieces you can create using the rolling mill, with ideas on how to make your own patterns.
Also a live lapidary demo featuring our NEW lapidary equipment and highlighting our new lapidary room. There will be a demonstration on cutting stone slabs on the rock saw, attaching them to dop sticks, and shaping them into cabochons using the cabbing machine. It’s a mesmerizing process and a great intro to working with stones that can be incorporated into your jewelry.

Join us for an eye-opening introduction to 3D technologies and scanning—perfect for beginners and curious minds alike! Whether you're dreaming up a home addition, designing custom parts, mapping outdoor spaces, or just exploring the possibilities, this event will show you how 3D capture can bring your ideas to life.

Meet the Experts: We’ll be joined by Parker from Obsidian 3D, a local business specializing in large-scale scanning and fabrication. Learn about his process and how it’s being used to solve complex, high-stakes problems today.

Saturday August 17th, 3–5PM​
Come get hands-on with the fascinating world of wood joinery—where craftsmanship meets clever engineering. This free member-exclusive event will walk you through 15 types of joints used in woodworking, from the humble butt joint to the precision-cut dovetail.

We’ll cover everything from pocket screws and biscuit joints to mortise & tenon, bridle joints, and even the elusive lock miter. No matter your skill level, you’ll walk away inspired to level up your own projects and get creative with joints!​​
GLASS STUDIO DEMO & HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE
Join us for an inspiring glass studio demo where you'll get an up-close look at the exciting world of glass art! We'll begin with a live demonstration of essential glass cutting techniques, followed by engaging overviews of stained glass, fused glass, and mosaic glass projects. Learn about the tools, materials, and processes that bring each of these vibrant art forms to life.

After the demos, you'll have the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and try it yourself! Choose a hands-on activity that interests you most and create your own mini glass masterpiece with guidance from our experienced instructors.
​All skill levels are welcome—come discover your favorite way to work with glass!
SEWING AND LEATHER DEMONSTRATIONS
In this combined leather and sewing demonstration we'll start with a demonstration on the ins and outs of the sewing machine. Threading the machine, different stitch types and feet with tips and tricks. Plus discover the artistry of leather tooling including how to use a swivel knife, select the perfect stamps, and learn to bring your designs to life with expert dyeing and painting techniques.

Following the demonstration, there will be an interactive Q&A session. Come meet and socialize with fellow members of the cave, share insights, and perhaps even spark new friendships.​​​
