About This Class

This private auto repair class offers hands-on instruction while you work directly on your own vehicle, with guidance from an experienced mechanic and instructor in our shop.

In this focused session, you’ll learn the proper workflow for diagnosing and completing automotive repairs, along with safe tool use, lift safety, and best practices for working on vehicles in a shop environment. The instructor will guide you step by step, helping you understand each process so you can confidently repeat the work in the future.

Topics may include:

• Automotive shop and lift safety

• Proper use of hand tools and shop equipment

• Vehicle inspection and basic diagnostics

• Common maintenance and repair tasks (fluids, brakes, belts, batteries, suspension components, etc.)

• Tips for planning repairs and avoiding common mistakes

This class is ideal for beginners, DIY car owners, or small groups who want to learn together while making real progress on their own vehicles. Instruction is paced to match the task at hand, with an emphasis on learning why things are done—not just getting the job finished.

No prior automotive experience is required. Students leave with increased confidence, practical skills, and a better understanding of their own vehicle.

Sessions are booked by the hour with a 2-hour minimum, or can be scheduled as a multi-week series for deeper learning and more advanced projects.

What to Wear

Please wear close-toed shoes, no loose clothing, and hair tied back for safety in the studio.​

What to Bring

If you have personal protective equipment, please bring it with you. Otherwise, protective gear will be provided as needed.

Prerequisites

No experience necessary.

Ages 13+ welcome if accompanied by a parent/guardian. Both need to register and pay.

Cancellation Policy

Refunds, Credits & Transfers

We understand that emergencies happen, so if you are unable to attend your class and you cancel with:

• More than 14 (fourteen) days notice before your class, you may request a full refund or transfer the full amount paid to another class.

• Less than 14 (fourteen) days notice before your class, your payment is non refundable. However you may transfer the amount paid, minus a 15% cancellation fee, to any class within 90 days of request. It is not guaranteed that a comparable class will be offered within 90 days.

• Less than 48 (forty eight) hours before your class begins, your payment is non refundable. It is extremely difficult to fill cancelled spaces with short notice.

• After class start date/time: No credits, refunds or prorating of fees will be given for missed portions or early withdrawals.

Changes or Cancellations

DIYcave reserves the right to cancel any class, limit class size, change class times or substitute instructors for those listed in the schedule. If a class is canceled, students may choose to receive a full refund or may transfer – with no fee – to another class or workshop. If DIYcave cancels for any reason, all payments can be refunded.
