Youth Group Classes

Looking for a hands-on learning experience for your school, homeschool group, enrichment program, or youth organization? DIYcave offers flexible youth class options designed to get kids making, building, and learning with real tools in a safe, supportive environment.

We work with schools and youth programs in a couple of different ways depending on what kind of experience you’re looking for.

Option 1: DIYcave-Led Classes

A turnkey program

This is a great fit for schools or youth groups that want a structured, hands-on program without needing to provide their own instructor.

In this format, DIYcave instructors teach the classes, guide students through projects, and provide all tools, materials, and safety instruction. Your group simply brings the students and the required adult chaperones, and we take care of the rest.

This model works especially well for:

  • elective series

  • enrichment programs

  • homeschool groups

  • leadership groups

  • after-school programs

Programs can be built as:

  • multi-week exploration series where students try a different type of making each week

  • deep-dive series focused on one medium over several sessions

For example, one school group joined us for a 6-week elective series, meeting once a week for 3 hours and rotating through the woodshop and metal shop.

Option 2: School Instructor + Shop Rental

You bring the instructor, we provide the shop

Some schools prefer to have their own teacher or program leader run the class while using DIYcave as the learning space.

In this format, your instructor leads the students, and DIYcave provides access to the shop, tools, and workspace needed for the course.

This can be a great fit for schools that already have:

  • a teacher with shop or project experience

  • a custom curriculum they want to teach

  • a desire for more independence in how the class is structured

Class Formats We Can Offer

We can tailor youth programs to match your goals, schedule, and age range.

Exploration Series

A great choice for groups that want to try a variety of creative skills and tools.

Sample rotating series:

  • Woodworking

  • Welding

  • Stained Glass

  • 3D Printing

  • Sheet Metal

  • Leatherworking

This format gives students exposure to multiple shop areas and lets them discover what kinds of making they enjoy most.

Deep-Dive Series

A good option for groups that want to spend several weeks building skills in one area.

Examples could include:

  • a woodworking series

  • a welding series

  • a stained glass series

  • a digital fabrication / 3D printing series

This format allows more time for skill-building, more advanced projects, and greater confidence using tools.

Popular Youth Class Options

We offer a wide range of hands-on classes designed to build real skills while keeping things fun and engaging.

Students learn measuring, cutting, sanding, and assembly while creating a finished project to take home, such as a cutting board.

Automotive

Students learn basic car maintenance skills such as tool use, shop safety, and simple tasks like oil changes while gaining confidence working around vehicles.

3D Printing & Digital Design

Students are introduced to basic digital design tools and learn how 3D printers work, then create and print their own custom object.

Stained Glass

Students learn the stained glass process, including cutting, foiling, and soldering, while creating a colorful beginner-friendly project.

Fused Glass

Students design with colorful glass pieces that are fused in a kiln to create finished items like dishes, suncatchers, or decorative panels.

Students create a wearable project, such as a leather cuff, while learning cutting, stamping, and assembly techniques.

Age, Group Size, and Supervision

  • Minimum age: 8 years old

  • Chaperones: 1 adult required for every 6 students

  • Programs are best suited for small to medium groups, though larger groups may be possible depending on the class format

Scheduling

We can often schedule:

  • single-session workshops

  • 4–6 week series

  • custom enrichment blocks during school hours

We’re happy to work with your existing schedule and help design a program that fits your timing and educational goals.

Pricing

Pricing depends on the class type, project, materials, and length of program.

As a general guideline:

  • most youth classes fall in the range of $75–$95 per student per session

  • classes involving more specialized materials or equipment, such as welding or stained glass, may fall on the higher end

Pricing is typically all-inclusive, covering instruction, materials, shop use, and safety equipment.
