About This Class
Do you want some beautiful flowers or mushrooms in your yard or in your potted plants all year long? Come and play with colored glass and make your own garden art. There is no glass cutting, just pure joy of choosing your glass color and the form of flowers and mushrooms. Your creation will then be fired a first time to melt all your colors together, then it will be fired again on a mold to take its final shape.
This workshop is great for beginner glass artists and people who would just like to learn the joys of fused glass. This workshop is an wonderful opportunity for you to learn how to create your own fused glass pieces under the guidance of an experienced instructor. Learn the basics of creating fused glass art using colorful glass and a variety of glass tools.
You will learn the basics of working with fused glass, such as cutting and shaping the glass, applying frit (finely ground glass), and layering different colors to create a design. You will also learn about proper safety practices when working with the specialized equipment an handtools needed for fused glass.
Our instructors will guide you through the process of planning and composing your design, and will provide tips and techniques for choosing and combining different colors and textures of glass.
Glass fusing is the process of joining compatible sheet glasses together in a kiln until the glass fuses at approximately 1490 degrees Fahrenheit. It grants you the power to create colorful, dynamic works of glass art that are completely unique. Unlike many other glass forms, glass fusing allows you as much time as you need to bring your designs to life since you are working with the glass while it is cold.
You will make up to 3 mushrooms during this 2 hour workshop
Your fused glass projects will stay at the studio after the workshop to be fired in our kiln. We will notify you as soon as they’re ready to be picked up! *Shipping is available for an additional cost.
