Lead Came Glass Classes
Stained Glass Suncatchers with Hobby Came
Hobby came is explored as a flexible framing solution for curved and organic designs. Students will create a copper-foiled suncatcher from provided organic patterns, using hobby came to shape, support, and finish the outer edge of the piece.
The process highlights how hobby came responds to curves, how it impacts the overall strength and line quality of a piece, and where it fits within copper-foil construction. Each student will complete a finished suncatcher, approximately 5” × 5”, selecting from a range of colored and textured glass to develop an individual result.
Framing Techniques in Stained Glass: Hobby Came & Zinc
In this in-depth workshop, students will create 2–3 small copper-foiled projects while learning how to frame stained glass using: Zinc came for strength and durability, Lead U-came for classic flexibility and Hobby came for versatile everyday projects. Students leave with beautifully finished pieces—and the confidence to frame future work with intention.
Leaded Glass: Assembly & Structural Construction Techniques
This immersive workshop explores the traditional leaded stained glass method—a centuries-old technique that predates copper foil and has been used for over 500 years. Students will be guided through classic leaded glass assembly as they create a 7” x 7” geometric panel. The focus is on design and construction (not cutting), making this a thoughtful gift for a wide range of skill levels.
