Bill’s been teaching himself how to build electric bass guitars.

Meet Bill Weber — a DIYcave regular who’s been teaching himself how to build electric bass guitars. He’s made 5–6 so far at the DIYcave, each one a little experiment in wood, tone, and technique.

He says the best moment is stringing them up and playing those first notes. He’s even performed around town with three of his handmade basses in his band Spacely Sprocket. See their upcoming shows at spacelysprocket.com

From open‑book veneers to Doug Fir fronts and Basswood backs, custom routing templates on the Glowforge, and his first guitar pieced together from salvaged guitar scraps — every build is its own adventure. And for now? He just gives them away.

So much creativity is happening in this shop and we love to see it! Scroll to see a few of Bill’s finished pieces.
