Road Closure & Detour Update – Wilson Avenue Construction
The City of Bend’s Wilson Avenue Corridor Project is entering its final phase, and construction will temporarily affect how visitors access DIYcave.
What’s happening
Beginning Spring 2026, Wilson Avenue will be fully closed between SE 9th Street and SE Centennial Street while railroad crossing improvements are completed. The closure is expected to last approximately 60 days.
The project is part of the city’s transportation improvements funded by the 2020 Transportation GO Bond and includes upgrades to the railroad crossing to improve safety and connectivity in the area.
How to get to DIYcave
Business access will remain open, but you may need to follow posted detour routes to reach the shop.
Detours will route traffic around the construction area using nearby streets including:
Reed Market Road
3rd Street
15th Street
Centennial Street
Please watch for posted detour signage when approaching the area.
What to expect
Temporary road closures on Wilson Avenue
Detour routes for vehicles, bikes, and pedestrians
Construction traffic, noise, and heavy equipment near the railroad crossing
Planning your visit
If you're coming to DIYcave classes, open shop time, or events, we recommend allowing a few extra minutes for travel during construction.
We appreciate your patience while the city completes these improvements. DIYcave will remain open and operating as usual, and we look forward to seeing you in the shop.
Think it. Make it. See you at the Cave. 🔧
