Using the DIYcave to Grow Your Business

Apr 24, 2024

In a world increasingly filled with mass-produced furniture, finding pieces that add a touch of personal craftsmanship and unique style to our homes is a rare treasure. Meet Dan, the heart and hands behind Cascade Oak and Iron, a bespoke furniture and decor business

that celebrates the art of handmade craftsmanship.

Dan’s journey into the world of craftsmanship began in his childhood, building and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. His passion for creating took a professional turn when he enlisted in the US Air Force at the age of 20. While enlisted Dan was blessed with the career assignment of Metals Technology learning and mastering a myriad of skills, from welding to CNC manufacturing. His stint in the military not only honed his technical abilities but also ignited a passion for woodworking, a skill he developed further while stationed in Louisiana. Post-military life saw Dan traversing the United States in a self-converted van, a journey that eventually led him to Oregon. Here, he decided to channel his extensive experience into his true passion—woodworking and fabrication. Thus, Cascade Oak and Iron was born, a manifestation of Dan’s dedication to craftsmanship and community. Dan finds his inspiration in the elegance and simplicity of Scandinavian design, which resonates through his creations in their earthy, minimalist, and natural aesthetics. This inspiration is a driving force behind Cascade Oak and Iron, pushing Dan to blend functionality with artistry in every piece he crafts.

Dan's recent projects include a series of dining and coffee tables crafted from white oak, showcasing his skill in working with fine wood. These exquisite tables are currently available for sale, offering an opportunity to bring a piece of unique, handcrafted art into your home. Alongside these larger pieces, Dan has also created smaller items like wall decor and floating shelves, each bearing the distinctive mark of his craftsmanship. Looking ahead, Dan is excited about his upcoming project—a Nordic bedroom set that promises to embody the minimalist, clean lines typical of Scandinavian design.

Among the various makerspaces Dan has experienced, the DIYcave stands out. Its extensive array of tools, strategic location, and the vibrant community of creators make it an ideal environment for any craftsman looking to excel and innovate.
